Description

Warwick Economics Summit is the largest student-run academic conference of its kind in Europe. Now in its 9th year, The Summit has evolved in form and stature into a truly international forum, one where talented students can listen to some of the world's most revered and inspirational speakers. Warwick Economics Summit 2010 will be held from friday 19th - sunday 21st february in the Ramphal building at Warwick University.

In its previous incarnations, The Summit has welcomed such distinguished speakers as Professor John F. Nash Jr (Nobel Laureate 1994), John Kay (leading UK economist and Financial Times Columnist), Johannes Linn (former World Bank Vice President), Dr. Kandeh Yumkella (Director General of UNIDO), Clive Crook (Then Deputy Editor of The Economist), Tim Harford (UK Economist, author and Financial Times columnist), Vince Cable (Lib.Dem. Treasury Spokesman), Sadeq Sayeed (CEO of Nomura for EMEA) and Ewald Nowotny (Governor of the Austrian Central Bank).

The Summit is so much more than a weekend of economics based talks; within our remit we encompass the broader spheres of development, politics, globalization and international relations. It is this wide scope and diversity that we believe sets us apart from other events, ensuring that The Summit remains relevant and in tune with today's wider issues.

We aim to provide our attendees with a platform from which to exchange knowledge, think creatively and debate current issues, all in an environment that is both thought-provoking and engaging.

However, everyone needs a break from changing the world sometimes! On the Saturday night of The Summit weekend, we host our ever-popular Dinner & Dance event. This semi-formal evening includes a 3-course dinner, the infamous Quiz and an evening to let your hair down and relax.

Throughout the weekend, we try to instill in all attendees The Summit spirit of creating lasting inter-university, international links with other students, be it in discussion or over dinner.

In addition to students from other prestigious UK universities, delegates come from all over Europe to attend - in recent years student delegations have joined us from places such as Italy, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Sweden and even The Gambia!

Our event remains a sell-out success each year because of its quality, its coherence and because of the tremendous efforts of our 40-strong team. We sincerely hope that you can join us.
