
Name: Dr. Pete Lunn
Position: Research Officer at The Economic & Social Research Institute (ESRI)
Biography: An economist and former BBC journalist, Dr Pete Lunn has an unusual background for an economist; he originally trained as a neuroscientist. He received a PhD in human perception from the University of London at just 24 years of age. He then spent over a decade in journalism, mostly with BBC Newsnight in London, but also in Ireland, where he was founding editor of the country’s first specialist talk radio station, NewsTalk.
Dr. Pete Lunn is the author of Basic Instincts: Human Nature and the New Economics which is meant to introduce readers to basic concepts of Behavioral Economics and argues that the findings lead to some changes in the understanding of Economics as a whole. Currently he is working on What’s it Worth, a project that aims to incorporate theories of human perception into models of economic transactions.
